I love an easy weeknight dinner and trust me, this recipe is way better than take-out! If you are looking for a flavorful, high-protein meal that is quick to prepare, this Asian ground turkey stir-fry is perfect! Lean ground turkey with crisp green beans all tossed together with garlic, onions and the most delicious homemade stir fry sauce that is loaded with flavor. We like to serve this over brown rice and I promise you the leftovers are almost better the next day making this perfect for meal prep.

Ingredients You’ll Need
For the Stir Fry:
- ground turkey – I used 93% lean ground turkey and you could go even leaner, but the turkey will be drier and not as flavorful. You could also use ground chicken, ground beef or ground pork.
- green beans – make sure to use fresh trimmed green beans and not canned in this recipe.
- olive oil – I like to use a good olive oil to sauté the veggies. Doesn’t have to be expensive, just make sure it’s cold-pressed and organic for the most flavor.
- onion – this adds so much flavor and you can use a white or yellow onion. I also like to garnish with green onions or scallions.
- garlic – I recommend using fresh chopped garlic or minced garlic from the jar, but garlic powder will work in a pinch.
For the Stir Fry Sauce:
- soy sauce – I always use low sodium soy sauce as I find that regular soy sauce can make dishes too salty. You could also swap the soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos to make this gluten-free or paleo.
- chili garlic sauce – this adds flavor and a nice kick, you could also use sweet chili sauce, chili paste or even sriracha.
- honey – this adds a little sweetness to the sauce without using refined sugars and makes a nice glaze. Swapping the honey with maple syrup or brown sugar is also a great option.
- sesame oil – adds so much delicious flavor to the sauce!
- ginger – fresh ginger is definitely best in this dish, but if all you have is ground ginger you can use.
- seasonings – I used a combination of salt, black pepper and crushed red pepper flakes for added spice.

How to Make Ground Turkey Stir Fry
- Sauté the green beans. In a large skillet (my FAVORITE pan!) or frying pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once pan is hot, add green beans and season with a little salt and pepper. Sauté the green beans for about 6 minutes until they start to get a little char and are tender, but still crisp. We don’t want floppy green beans! Transfer the green beans to a bowl and set aside.
- Brown the turkey. Drizzle a little more olive oil in the hot skillet and add the chopped onion. Sauté the onion until fragrant and translucent, about 2 to 3 minutes. Mix in the garlic and sauté for an additional 30 seconds, being careful not to burn. Add the ground turkey and brown until crumbled and turkey is fully cooked.
- Make the sauce. While the ground turkey is cooking in the skillet, in a small bowl or jar whisk together soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, honey, sesame oil, ginger and seasonings.
- Combine everything. Add the cooked green beans back into the pan and pour in the stir-fry sauce, mixing well, making sure to completely coat the ground turkey and green beans. Let everything simmer on medium-low heat for about 2-3 minutes, until the savory sauce has thickened.
- Serve and enjoy. Serve over hot rice, quinoa, noodles, or cauliflower rice to keep this low carb. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds, serve and enjoy!
Prepping and Storage
Leftovers will last up to 4 to 5 days in the fridge stored in a sealed, airtight container. The great thing is this meal tastes even better the next day so it’s perfect for weekly meal prep!

How to Serve
- With rice – serve over steamed jasmine rice, white rice or brown rice for a complete meal.
- With noodles – toss with lo mein or rice noodles for a stir-fry noodle dish.
- Low-carb option – serve over cauliflower rice or in lettuce wraps for a lighter meal.
Recipe Variations and Tips
- Make it spicier – add a little sriracha, chili paste or red pepper flakes for some extra heat.
- Different protein – you could use ground chicken, ground beef, or even tofu for a vegetarian version. Shredded chicken breast would taste great too.
- Add more veggies – extra veggies like bell peppers, mushrooms, snap peas and carrots all make great additions.
- Gluten-free version – use tamari, coconut aminos or gluten-free hoisin sauce in place of the soy sauce. You could also simply use teriyaki sauce or even this peanut sauce, if you prefer.

Made this recipe last night. It was delicious. I used 90/10 ground beef as our store did not have ground turkey, and that did not sound appetizing to either of us anyway. I had to shop for the majority of the ingredients but now I have them to make this again. My only grocery store option in our rural area is a standard size Walmart and I was happy I could find most of what I was missing. I do have to task the 5 minute prep time, it took me about 10 minutes just to wash, trim and cut up the whole fresh green beans, only. then had to peel chop onion, grate fresh ginger. So Please PLEASE share your tips on how to 5 minute prep.? 20 minutes to cook was a no go either, the green beans on #3 heat took almost 20 minutes themselves. going make the one pan chicken and veggies next. I hope it will be as yummy as this.
Do you know how many grams per serving?
